Fremont County Alliance Against Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault hosted its 3rd Annual Purple Ball on October 19th, 2019. For the first time ever, they presented the ‘Jacque Taylor Outstanding Service Award’ to Karen Doughty. Karen is recognized for her contributions through time, actions, talent, compassion and dedication to Fremont County.
Fremont County Alliance shared background on founder Jacque Taylor:
“This year we are honoring founder, mentor and advocate Jacque Taylor, whose tenacity and commitment created the foundation of the program we serve today. In 1980 she was apart of a task force to address family violence and to actively seek ways to support victims and their families. April of 1981 Jacque became the Executive Director (only staff person at the time) of the program answering crisis calls from her home. In 1982 a six bedroom home was purchased and to be used as a shelter. Jacque retired in 1991 [and has since passed away]. 39 years later we proudly continue Jacques’ legacy by providing services to any persons that are victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking regardless of age, race, sex gender, religious affiliation or income level.”
