Central Wyoming College releeases:
CWC Men beat LCCC; Will Host Sheridan Saturday
The Rustlers traveled to Laramie County CC (Cheyenne, WY) to compete in their last conference game of the season. Central would beat LCCC 102-91 making their conference record 9-5 (overall 19-10), and will head into the Region IX Tournament as #4 seed (north).
Sophomore Darius Guinn led the Rustlers in scoring with 27 points. Guinn also pulled down 10 rebounds and had 4 assists. Freshmen Jaylon Gentry and Dave Francois contributed 17 points each. Jerroda Briscoe added 11 points and had 2 blocks, and Anthony Mensah had 11 points.
The Rustlers will host the Sheridan Generals (#5 north) this Saturday, February 29th in the first round of the Region IX Tournament. Tip off will be at 4:00pm. The game will be streamed here.
Northeastern Junior College (#1 south) will be the host site for the remainder of the tournmanet on the men’s side. For tournament information, please check Northeastern’s webiste.
CWC Ladies also knock off LCCC; Play at Eastern this week
The Rustlers played their last conference game against Laramie County (in Cheyenne) on Saturday and came home with the win, 72-64.
Sophomore Essy Latu would lead the Rustlers in scoring with 23 points. The next two leading scorers were the two non-starters, Kailiana Ramos and Hayley Cotter. Ramos would add 15 to the Rustlers total, and Cotter added 11. Freshman Hayley Cotter also led Central in rebounding with 8. Central will end their conference play with a record of 4-10 (8-19 overall).
The Rustlers (#6 north) will head to Eastern Wyoming (#3 north) on Friday to play the Lancers in the first round of the Region IX Tournament. Tip off will be at 6:30pm. The game will be streamed here.
