The Wyoming Business Council Board of Directors approved five Community Development Block Grants totaling nearly $2.1 million in federal money funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Among those five is the Town of Dubois. They will receive $400,000 of the $2.1 million.

Dubois requested the funds to demolish an 87,120 sq. ft. abandoned school building that sits on 2 acres of land. “This structure served students until 1995 until portions of the building became unstable and was subsequently sold to a private party,” according to their request. “The building is now in such poor condition, it has been deemed a hazard.”

“Current ownership has been unable to do anything with the building in terms of demolition or refurbishment and has donated the property to the town.”
