Haunted Halls of Hudson: The Who, What, Where, When and Why
Hudson is hosting their very first Haunted house and trunk-or-treat created by Brenda McIntyre
Inside the eerie Town Hall of Hudson, Brenda has created a haunted Maze with. The film by William Castle first debuted in the 1960’s with a remake film in 2001 directed by Steve Beck. There will be two mazes; one for the younger children, and a second, scary version for older kids and adults. WARNING: not for the faint of heart!
We are still looking for volunteers to help set up, play ghosts, help with lighting, sounds and/or makeup and costumes, decorate vehicles to pass out candy, and material or monetary donations to help with costs are welcomed and appreciated.
As you exit the maze into the parking lot you will enter the trunk-or-treat where kids may fill their Halloween bags with a maximum amount of candy in a short period of time (this will help both kids with getting candy and parents not having to haul kids all around after a long day of work on a school night).
Haunted Halls of Hudson will be in the Town Hall of Hudson doing a dry run on October 30th (no candy) from 4-7pm to fix any bugs or problems that may arise, and the all out freak show on October 31st from 4- 11pm. The Cost to enter the haunted maze will be free, but donations will be accepted.
Brenda loves Halloween and wanted to bring more kids and community together. All too often you hear people say we didn’t get any trick-or-treaters or there is too much ground to cover when going door-to-door with too little reward. With the trunk-or-treat, people get to see all the different trick-or-treaters and pass out candy with little risk of Halloween pranks on their homes caused by “bad treats”. Kids get a lot of candy in a short period of time, allowing them more time to go to different Halloween activities.
The biggest reason for this new event besides building community relationships is Safety. There are too many “horror” stories of children being poisoned, harmed, or taken during Halloween. We have the fire department helping out with any safety concerns, WyDot helping slow down traffic and road safety, plus many others who are looking to keep our kids protected.
Whether you are from Riverton or Lander, Arapaho or Fort Washakie, even Dubois or Shoshoni, there is fun to be had by all, please come join us and be prepared, you may need a change clothes!
