Riverton Fire Department (RFD) Chief Henri DeClercq confirmed yesterday, December 19th, that two occupants in the early morning house fire north of Riverton were found deceased. The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) shared today, December 20th, the occupants were a “49-year-old Riverton man and his 11-year-old daughter.” Their names have not been released at this time.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Wyoming Fire Marshals Office, Wyoming DCI and the RFD. However, “…preliminary findings do not suggest any sort of foul play,” FCSO shared. Henri explained yesterday the investigation could take several days to complete due to the conditions.

“The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office would like to express our most sincere condolences to the family and friends of the two victims of this tragic incident.”
