Fremont County’s Good Samaritan Center has closed their doors
The Fremont County Good Samaritan Center on East Washington Avenue in Riverton announced today, December 5th, 2019, they have closed their doors due to funding issues and difficulty properly staffing for their hours of operation.
The center has been a landing place for Fremont County residents to get back on their feet since 1993. In July, we shared a post about their need for building repairs and the difficulty they’ve faced with grant funding for those needed repairs.
Aside from being the only emergency shelter in Fremont County, they also participated in The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP). This program in partnership with the Wyoming Food Bank of the Rockies provides food for local residents. Their last TEFAP distribution was also today, December 5th.
No other information about their closing was provided by the center.
