Ten bison from the National Bison Range in Montana were released to roam on 48-acres of land in Kinnear, Wyoming this week. Northern Arapaho Tribal members, elders, leaders and local school children gathered at the release event on Wednesday, October 16th, 2019.

The Northern Arapaho Tribal Historic Preservation Office (NATHPO) shared “…[This] historic event was years in the making.”

NATHPO said, “Traditionally, the bison holds a great significance in the tribe and was used for food, cultural and spiritual purposes. Bringing back the respected animal will hopefully strengthen the Arapaho Tribe and provide a greater knowledge about our past and future.”
