The Northern Arapaho Business Council is pleased to announce a private donation of $4.75 million has been made to a fund established to improve recreational opportunities on the Wind River Indian Reservation, especially for tribal children.

The fund will be managed by the Community Foundation of Jackson Hole, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. The donor has requested to remain anonymous.

“This is great news for members of the Northern Arapaho and Eastern Shoshone tribes,” said NABC Chairman Lee Spoonhunter. “These dollars will make a big difference in the health and quality of life for tribal members by improving access to parks, trails and recreational opportunities of all kinds. We thank this anonymous donor, and look forward to working with the Community Foundation of Jackson Hole to achieve the greatest possible benefit for all residents of the Wind River Indian Reservation.”

A Wind River Reservation Advisory Panel will be formed to oversee recreation-related grants distributed from the fund. The Advisory Panel will consist of at least three appointed members, including one selection each from the Northern Arapaho and Eastern Shoshone business councils, and one appointee of the Community Foundation of Jackson Hole who is familiar with the Reservation but not employed with or elected by either Tribe.
