#rivertonbiz, brought to you by Grace Andrus with Edward Jones, shares the stories of the local movers and shakers of our Fremont County economy.

Wind River Internet (WRI) is working to connect every home and business on the Wind River Reservation with high-speed internet as part of a project between the Northern Arapaho and Eastern Shoshone Tribes.

“We have 300 homes passed and ready for fiber right now on the Reservation with 150 lit up with active connections adding more every day,” WRI Executive Manager Patrick Lawson shared.

The project will take several years to complete, but WRI is already looking ahead to next year. “We are gearing up for the Fiber to pass another 854 homes this summer in Ethete and Fort Washakie areas and increasing speeds for our Fixed Wireless customers as well,” Patrick said.

Pew Research Center based in Washington, D.C. filmed a mini-documentary [shared below] about the project this past summer and released it earlier this week.

In case you missed our post from earlier this week about WRI’s expansion, you can read about it here.
