Every April, we observe National Child Abuse Prevention Month to raise public awareness of child abuse and neglect, recommit efforts and resources aimed at protecting children and strengthening families, and promote community involvement through activities that support the cause.

Prevent Child Abuse America started the Pinwheels for Prevention campaign in 2008 to create a national effort to change the public’s beliefs and behaviors regarding child abuse and neglect prevention. The pinwheel represents our efforts to change the way our nation thinks about prevention, focusing on community activities and public policies that prioritize prevention right from the start to make sure child abuse and neglect never occur.

The pinwheel is reflective of the bright future all children deserve and our belief that getting it right early is less costly than trying to fix it later.

The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office Victim Witness Program and the Fremont County & Prosecuting Attorney’s Office Victim Witness Program have joined together placing a pinwheel garden around Fremont County, for the last three years to help bring child abuse awareness to our community. This year we are pleased to be collaborating with Injury Prevention Resources to bring further awareness to Fremont County.
