The Wind River Visitors Council (WRVC) wanted to reach out and connect with our fellow tourism-oriented businesses in this challenging and often confusing time.
It’s important that the Fremont County community come together now (not literally, of course), support one another, and collaborate for our collective health and future of our visitor economy.
The WRVC has been working diligently to learn as much as possible about appropriate COVID-19 precautions and responses. Though travel is currently fairly restricted, the work of the tourism industry continues. We are haven’t ceased our efforts to inspire travelers and maintain partnerships with tour operators, stakeholders, and media. However, we are balancing that carefully with the vitality of avoiding unnecessary travel until it is safe for both travelers and their destinations, like us. We have adjusted our Wind River Country tourism messaging to be inspirational for longer-term travel plans and paused our international marketing for the time being. When it’s appropriate, Wind River Country will be an appealing destination for travelers looking for open spaces and natural social distancing for their vacations.
We know our local tourism industry partners have been doing much of the same work: adjusting your tone, changing your schedules, amending your services, and monitoring your expenses—all while holding your breath. So the WRVC has compiled the most relevant resources for local businesses and organizations, and we will continue to add to this resource as the situation develops.
We invite our partners to use and share the Wyoming Office of Tourism talking points, sage advice from Berkeley Young, industry-specific guidelines from the Wyoming Lodging and Restaurant Association, consultations with the Small Business Development Center, and our library of materials. The folder of assets is available here.
The world and travel are changing before our eyes, but as a community, Fremont County/Wind River Country will come out the other side of this stronger and wiser than ever before.
